Gifts-in-Kind

Gifts of personal property include, but are not limited to, antiques, works of art, furniture, jewelry, rare books and valuable collections.

Before accepting a gift of tangible personal property, Carroll will consider how the university might use the property and whether this use is related to the university's mission. Whether the use of the gift is related to Carroll's mission may have tax consequences for the donor.

Tangible personal property with a value of $5,000 or more must be valued by a qualified, independent appraiser, secured and compensated by the donor.
